Compare the same quarter and the same measure

Q2 2026’s average was 1.1 million Platform WAU higher than Q2 2025’s 21.8 million Platform WAU. This is Social Usage’s subtraction of the two rounded source values. It describes a difference between quarterly averages, not that many newly registered people.

Q2 filing, Platform Weekly Active Users, p. 21 · Calculation: 22.9 − 21.8 = 1.1 million.

Both 2026 filings use the same app-or-website activity definition and present their own prior-year comparators. The figures show higher activity in each displayed 2026 quarter than its 2025 counterpart. Two quarter pairs do not establish a long-term trend, a cause or a statistically significant difference.

What does Platform WAU count?

A qualifying user opens the app or logs on to the website at least once in seven days. For every day in the quarter, Nextdoor counts unique users in that day’s trailing seven-day window, then averages those daily counts.

Q2 2026 filing, Item 2, Platform Weekly Active Users, p. 21.

Why “weekly” does not mean a single week or a quarterly total

The reported figure is an average of overlapping seven-day windows throughout the quarter. A returning user can qualify in many windows. Multiplying this average by the number of weeks would not produce the number of distinct users reached in the quarter. It is also neither a daily nor a monthly active-user count.

How do verified neighbors and household reach differ?

A neighbor-registration total describes the registered base; it does not require activity in the same seven-day window. Household reach uses households as its unit, so it cannot be converted into people without additional evidence. Neighborhood coverage describes locations. None of these measures can replace Platform WAU or be added to it.

This brief does not publish a registered-neighbor or household-reach estimate. It focuses on the consistently defined activity figures in the SEC filings.

How many Nextdoor users are in the United States?

The selected activity figures do not supply a U.S. breakout. They cover the company’s reporting across its operating markets, with no country-allocation method supplied. A separate U.S. household claim cannot establish the U.S. share of this activity count.

For evidence specifically scoped to U.S. populations, start with the United States overview. Survey adoption and company activity remain different measures.

Why older Nextdoor user counts may not line up

Nextdoor began reporting Platform WAU instead of its broader WAU measure in Q2 2025. The older definition also included engagement with emails containing monetizable content. Email engagement alone does not meet the newer platform definition.

Q2 2026 filing, Part II Item 1A, key business metric changes, pp. 48–49. The older email-inclusive WAU series is discontinued as the reported key metric.

There was also a correction within the Platform WAU series. Nextdoor says an iOS push-notification issue had overstated figures for Q1 2024 through Q1 2025. It revised those figures in its Q2 2025 filing. This page uses the later comparator for Q1 2025, rather than an earlier version.

What this means when citing a historical figure

Keep the metric name, quarter and source version together. Do not join an older email-inclusive WAU value to a Platform WAU value and call the difference audience growth or decline. For a previously corrected period, identify the filing that supplies the revised value. Reviewing an old figure today does not turn it into current usage.

How reliable are the company’s counts?

Nextdoor says these metrics come from internal analytics and have not been independently validated. It warns that system errors, technical incidents, compliance or fraud-related bans, and false or spam accounts can affect them. Account removal may not identify every invalid account. “Unique users” is the company’s counting term, not proof of distinct real people.

Q2 filing, Item 1A, reliability of key business metrics, p. 48. These limitations are separate from survey sampling uncertainty.
