About this finding
Definition and survey scope
Individuals who used the internet for private purposes to participate in social networks in the last three months, as a percentage of all individuals in the selected age group.
The activity includes creating a user profile, posting messages or otherwise contributing to social networks. It does not identify specific platforms or count the number of accounts held.
The denominator includes all individuals in the selected age group, including people who have not used the internet. National collection modes, translations and fieldwork periods may vary.

Reference years: 2023–2025. Retrieved and evidence checked: 1 October 2026 (UTC). Technical checks were assisted; independent human editorial approval has not been recorded. A review date does not change the period measured.

Common questions
Which platforms do people in France use?
This indicator measures participation in social networks as an activity. It cannot tell us the audience of Instagram, Reddit or another named platform in France. That needs a separate source with a platform-specific question or definition.
Is this a percentage of internet users?
No. The denominator is all individuals in the stated age group, including non-internet users. Using only internet users as the denominator would produce a different measure.
Why is France’s 2024 figure unavailable?
Eurostat marks these observations confidential. The 2025 observations also carry a break-in-series flag. We preserve both source conditions and do not fill the missing year or calculate continuous growth across it.
