How many people use Bluesky?
Bluesky reported 41.41 million accounts at the closing endpoint of its 2025 comparison. The source calls these “users” and explicitly includes accounts across its federated network. It does not establish that they are distinct people or active users.

Account totals describe scale, not active reach
The report pairs an opening figure of 25.94 million accounts with a closing figure of 41.41 million accounts for its 2025 comparison. It includes accounts on Bluesky infrastructure and independently operated Personal Data Servers. The exact endpoint days are not specified.

A larger account total can coexist with a different pattern of daily or monthly activity. These endpoints alone cannot tell us how many people returned, how often they visited, or whether one person controlled multiple accounts.
Why we do not calculate a growth rate
The report describes growth differently in different sections: “nearly 60%” in the Overview, “57%” under Reports, and “doubled” under Toxicity Filtering. We retain the explicit endpoint counts rather than choosing among these phrases. Without a fuller accounting definition and clarification of those differences, this page makes no derived growth, new-person or retention claim.

Posts measure a different kind of activity
During 2025, Bluesky reported 1.41 billion posts created, including 235 million posts containing photos, videos or other media. These are post counts, not unique authors, audience reach or time spent.

The media-post figure overlaps the total, so adding the two would double-count posts. Dividing an annual post count by an endpoint account total would also mix a full-year flow with a snapshot; it would not establish how much a typical person posted.

| Measure | Value | Reference period |
|---|---|---|
| Opening endpoint | 25.94 million accounts | Opening endpoint of reported 2025 change |
| Closing endpoint | 41.41 million accounts | Closing endpoint of reported 2025 change |

Company-reported, source-rounded values. Counts have no population-percentage denominator. Accounts and posts are different entities; neither establishes verified unique people. The underlying count query, audit, deletion treatment, exact geographic assignment and sampling errors are not supplied. Missing information is not zero.

U.S. users, demographics and active users remain separate questions
How many Bluesky users are in the United States?
These selected figures do not answer that question. The report’s age-assurance counts cover accounts involved in a particular verification process; they are not a count of all users in a country. We do not turn them into a U.S. total or geographic market share.
For supported U.S. survey findings across other platforms, see the platform library. Those adult survey percentages should not be ranked alongside this account count.
Does Bluesky have daily or monthly active-user figures?
This evidence selection supplies no absolute DAU or MAU total. A moderation-report rate per active user is a different measure and cannot be reverse-engineered into an audience count without matching inputs and definitions. No live or current active-user estimate is inferred here.
What about ages, gender or political affiliation?
The selected account totals have no such breakdown and no adult-only cutoff. Age-assurance operations, self-selected posts and the identities of visible accounts cannot substitute for representative demographic evidence. Those figures remain unknown in this brief.
Use a citation that keeps the definition
Describe the figure as a company-reported account total in the 2025 report. Keep the reporting period and network scope, and avoid changing “accounts” to “Americans,” “people” or “monthly active users.” See how audience measures differ.
