About this finding

Definition and survey scope

Individuals who used the internet for private purposes to participate in social networks in the last three months, as a percentage of all individuals in the selected age group.

The activity includes creating a user profile, posting messages or otherwise contributing to social networks. It does not identify specific platforms or count the number of accounts held.

The denominator includes all individuals in the selected age group, including people who have not used the internet. National collection modes, translations and fieldwork periods may vary.

Common questions

Which platforms do people in Denmark use?

This indicator measures participation in social networks as an activity. It cannot tell us the audience of Instagram, Reddit or another named platform in Denmark. That needs a separate source with a platform-specific question or definition.

Is this a percentage of internet users?

No. The denominator is all individuals in the stated age group, including non-internet users. Using only internet users as the denominator would produce a different measure.

How does this relate to the EU figure?

Eurostat reports 67.3% participation for all EU individuals aged 16–74 in 2025. That is its published EU aggregate, not a simple average of the country percentages. National methods and survey timing can still differ.
